About OCHAA

OUR BACKGROUND

Our Journey

The organization’s roots were planted in August 2020, when a group of intellectuals, educationists, writers and journalists, women rights and social activists, and committed youths and researchers registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under registration number (4988).

Initially, the team started educational, cultural, and social welfare activities on a voluntary basis. It was warmly welcomed by the general public, governmental officials, and local civil society organizations, encouraging the core team to initiate organized efforts towards community development, especially for Afghan youth, children, and marginalized communities.

After years of operations, the foundation's leadership realized that the majority of Afghans are illiterate, and even those who are literate are often unskilled and nonproductive. The continuous war and conflicts in the region have drastically changed attitudes towards social injustice and instability. The leadership concluded that they could achieve their vision and long-term goals more effectively by focusing on education, social development, increasing the productive capacity of youth, human rights advocacy, psychosocial support, and emergency relief services.
